The Belgian firm Diane Von Furstenberg definitely abandons the skins.
There are news that make our day, and this is, without doubt, that kind of “good news”. And is that, one of the most important firms in Europe, Diane Von Furstenberg another, abandons the use of skins for their creations from next year. It is not the first, nor will it be the last, but we are glad of the step taken by a company that we follow with admiration; we have one more reason
In fact, the Furstenberg house had already taken a step forward in the fight for the eradication of this type of uses in fashion. Last year, without going any further, they undertook to stop using Mohair’s skin, thanks to the PETA, ngo reports with which, now, they have signed an association agreement to end all use of skins. Another that has joined the association is the Humane Society of the United States.
The idea, logically, is to end animal exploitation, and this, necessarily, ends with the use of their skin to make garments. We know that fashion loses, with this decision, a classic of its offer, but the world will be, a little fairer. In addition, many firms have been working with other types of materials that resemble those for years, so there is no reason to complain.
Many are those who think that large companies have been forced to make such decisions because of the pressure of public opinion that, influenced by the large campaigns of NGOs dedicated (and determined) to put an end to this scourge, have exerted pressure necessary for the decision to be a matter of time. Hopefully not left here and many more brands are aimed at this “fashion” that so necessary we think.
